TAGD Ventures is a Brisbane technology advisory and delivery practice run by Dave Tormey. We work with Australian organisations, mostly in government and regulated industries, that want AI to do useful work inside their own environment, under their own control, with a clear line of accountability for what it does.
Dave spent the first ten years of his career building systems for state and federal agencies, including Centrelink, the Department of Transport, the Australian Taxation Office, Queensland Health and Energex. He then spent more than a decade as CTO, CIO and CISO of a software company serving law enforcement, where he built and ran the technology function, delivered secure systems to policing clients under ISO 27001 and IRAP, and spent a lot of time in the room when things went wrong and had to be put right.
He started TAGD because the organisations he talked to were being asked to adopt AI quickly, by people who had often never run anything in production, and he thought the sensible version of that work deserved a practice built around it.
His work with AI had started at that software company. He ran Azure OpenAI models inside the company’s own cloud and built assistants that gave staff instant access to knowledge spread across many systems. With a state police service he then built a proof of concept that cut the administration on each domestic violence matter from about five hours to about thirty minutes, with an officer approving every step. It was recognised with a Telstra Award for Innovation. Since starting TAGD he has built AI tools for architecture review and tender assessment, and an air-gapped AI system for a federal government programme.
He is also the founder of Cordexa, a governed AI platform that is a finalist in this year's Australian AI Awards, exhibited at the 2026 AI Showcase at Parliament House in Canberra, and is listed in the National AI Centre's Responsible AI Directory. TAGD builds with Cordexa and with the same discipline on every client project.
Dave is based in Brisbane and works with organisations across Australia.
